The fun list

Last post, I talked about throwing my "to do" list away. On this one, I thought I would share part of it.

You see, I'm a big enough nerd that my obsessive 100+ item summer "to do" list included sub-categories such as:
- Personal/ Fun
- Personal/ not fun
- professional
- house
- organization
- big stuff/ volunteer (includes "soul search about job", as mentioned in previous post)

Because I don't think you all would want to hear about me doing more crunches or cleaning my attic, I'm going with the "fun" category. The stuff in blue I've crossed off my list.

Personal/ fun:
X 1. Participate in the 8 mile, nighttime bike race
X 2. Write a blog post about dad for Father's Day
X 3. Put together special theme gift for sister's bday (damn... never took a picture of this!)
X 4. Go kayaking
X 5. See New Moon with Bethy.
X 6. Try five new recipes
X 7. Go to a concert or show
X 8. Get away for one more night with Dan
9. Go to vintage stores I've been wanting to check out
X 10. Read five new books
11. Try yoga or abs class
12. make homemade ice cream
X 13. find perfect sundress that can be worn many places
X 14. Trip to beach in August
15. Go to beach with friends for day
X16. Go to new restaurant for anniversary
17. Try Top Chef restaurant in DC

Real substantial stuff, huh?

And because #7 was oh-so-fun, here's more:

#7: Go to a concert or show

Yesterday, Dan and I went on a double date to see rock-ass 80's cover band The Legwarmers. I went last year with my sister and loved them. Knowing Dan worships Eye of the Tiger more than Rocky himself, I was not surprised when he rocked out on his air guitar all night.

The outfits:

My friend Missy and I shopped for hours earlier in the week. I knew 80's style was back in vogue, but I had no idea how much. Finding gear was as easy as a drunk groupie at a Poison concert. I got this poofy, black dress from Forever 21 for $9.00, along with a few strands of pearls, $1.50 glasses, and lace gloves. For Dan, I made homemade jorts by cutting up his old jeans and we topped it off with G & R shirt and a bandanna. It doesn't get much more classy than jorts.

Missy wore a rasssspberry beret (the kind you find in a second hand store) and the most amazing zippered, zebra jeans. Her hubby made the commitment to going total Miami Vice.

Favorite song of the night? Probably "Love is a Battlefield" or "Sweet Child of Mine".

Hope everyone is enjoying their summer too!

Love the outfit, but I'm a little disappointed in the hair. You really needed to pick up a huge bottle of acqua net.
Your fun list is a lot of fun!

I love this! And I highly recommend checking out Urban Outfitters for the sundress. I've had good luck there lately.

Laura, you're totally right about the hair. I'm thinking about trying to crimp it next time...
